Publisher Notes

Welcome to The Introducer Magazine

This edition of The Introducer is focused on the epidemic that is costing millions if not billions of dollars globally and killing our people.  Diabetes.  According to the World Health Organization, around 1.6 million people worldwide died due to diabetes in 2016. It is estimated that 425 million people are living with diabetes all over the world. By 2045, projections show this number rising to some 629 million diabetics globally.  This edition is being released on National Diabetes Awareness Day and constitutes our offering of hope to diabetics and our celebration of the innovators working on solutions. You’ll not only meet innovators with projects from biology and devices to programs, but, also experts with advice for diabetics, healthcare professionals, and innovators, too.  Please start with our Guest Editor’s letter.  Dr. Wilma Hunt-Watts is a podiatrist, has worked with the Veterans Administration and serves on the American Diabetes Assoc. (ADA) Board. We are proud to partner with the ADA on this edition and want to thank Dr. Watts for making this possible. Remember, our aim is to stir up meaningful conversatons to expand impact, so, within a week, we will post our popular “Networking Connections” article where we share names and connection opportunities we see in this edition.  It’s fascinating and action-oriented. Follow us on Linkedin if you don’t want to miss it.  We encourage positive interaction in comments.  You can review Rules of Engagement.  Note: Your professional perspective is welcome, but we do reserve the right to remove non-productive or irrelevant comments.
